Meet Wangari Mur Maathai, winner of the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize and founder of the Green Belt Movement.
Growing up in Kenya, she was surrounded by trees standing tall, rivers running races, and rich village gardens. Her love for the earth inspired her to explore the world around her.
In a community where women are expected to stay home, her heart was too big to be contained. Like a tiny seed, nourished by rain and sunlight, her love sprouted into millions and millions of trees.
