School Pride: Team Mascot’s Favorite Football Titles

By Kaleigh Shank Here at Mascot Books, we take our sports—and their Mascots—very seriously. With the 2018 college football season starting soon, we asked our staff what their favorite college books are!

Naren Aryal

Virginia Tech

Our CEO can’t pick just one team! 50 Best College Football Teams of All Time is at the top of Naren’s list because it captures everything that makes college football so great. Follow the history of the sport from 1906 to 2013 and learn about the players, coaches, and offenses that changed the game.   Hoos in the Kitchen Cover

Kristin Perry

University of Virgina

Hoo can resist a collection of recipes from their alma mater to bring back memories of their college days? Kristin, our Director of Author Services, says Hoos in the Kitchen is her favorite of our University of Virginia books because it helps her stop and smell the nostalgia. Wahoowa!

Kate McDaniel

Virginia Tech

While there are some great poultry recipes in Hoos in the Kitchen, Virginia Tech fans prefer their Hokie Birds on the football field. Kate, one of our senior acquisitions editors, chose #JustaGobbler as her school pride book because the Hokie Bird learns his talents and proves he’s more than just a gobbler. Go Hokies!

Danny Moore

Auburn University

Biased to his own alma mater, designer Danny says his favorite Auburn book is A Dog Named Shug and the SEC. This adorable book introduces children to Auburn and other SEC teams to find the missing game ball. This book is the perfect way to introduce children to the campus. War Eagle!

Ricky Frame

West Virginia University

Our senior graphic designer, Ricky, graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College. While they have a football team, West Virginia University is the team to beat—so his favorite book for the Mountaineer state is WVU Traditions. This book shows exactly what makes a Mountaineer and shares some of the school’s most treasured traditions. He may have graduated a Bobcat, Mountaineer blood runs through his veins. Let’s Go!

Will Oney

University of Alabama

After spending much of his childhood in Alabama, Will, our retail account manager, has been a lifelong Crimson Tide fan. Roll Tide Roll! offers adorable insight into Alabama tradition and culture. Will highly recommends this book to get the whole family hyped for football season. Roll Tide!

Emily Evans-Miller

The Ohio State University

While not a Buckeye by degree, content marketing manager Emily is truly a Buckeye by blood. Having grown up just outside of Columbus as a fourth generation OSU legacy, there’s nothing she loves more than her Ohio State Buckeyes. There Once Was a Buckeye Who Lived in The Shoe combines her love of OSU tradition, adorable illustrations, and children’s books that rhyme. Go Bucks! O-H!

Kaleigh Shank

Clemson University

While marketing manager Kaleigh graduated from a small school in Ohio, her heart and soul belongs to Clemson University. Night-Night, Little Tiger holds a prominent place on her bookshelf. This sweet bedtime story is the Clemson pride version of Goodnight Moon and is the go-to baby shower gift for her friends that support rival teams. Got to spread the tiger love! Go Tigers! 31-0!   We have a whole host of collegiate titles that are perfect for every alma mater. Check out a few more of our favorite books below!
