Hansen the Truck Stop Dog
Hansen the Truck Stop Dog tells the true tale of a livestock guardian dog found near a truck stop in southern Idaho.
For months, Hansen guarded two sheep along a thin strip of land between a busy highway and the steep cliff of the Snake River Canyon. With little food and no shelter, he continued doing the work he had been born for, protecting his sheep.
When the rescuers from Unega Mountain Dog Rescue learned about Hansen and the sheep he protected, they began a careful effort to earn his trust.
Inspired by a true rescue, this story introduces readers to livestock guardian dogs and celebrates instinct, resilience, and the soft courage of those who protect.
