Lighthouse Cheese Factory

Cori Anne Natoli

Every night, while all the mice were busy doing their chores, collecting meals, and playing hide-and-seek around their burrows beneath the people’s porch, Bleu would venture off on her own to a yard where sea salt sprinkled the sky and seabirds cried out to each other.

For a beach mouse not much bigger than the palm of your hand, it was awfully risky for her to explore on her own. But this was a chance worth taking, so that’s just what Bleu did on a chilled October night that would change her life forever. Bleu, a not-so-ordinary beach mouse, dreams of becoming an inventor. She is tasked with convincing her eight friends to invent cheese inside a miniature lighthouse. Her quest leads her through many obstacles, including coming face-to-face with Public Enemy Number One: Swamp Bunny, a.k.a. SB, a cranky, hungry muskrat from the swamp. With its twists and turns, friends and foes, and her own case of self-doubt and anxiety, will Bleu overcome it all on the road to success? Lighthouse Cheese Factory was written to spark appreciation and curiosity for entrepreneurship, while cultivating literacy and collaboration.
