Design & Illustration
A book’s manuscript is the starting point. To create a highly impactful book, there’s much more to it. How the message is delivered and utilization of visual strategies is equally important. Developing exceptional cover designs, engaging page layouts, and vivid illustrations (for the children’s market) are all areas where Mascot adds value.
They say that you can’t judge a book by its cover. They are wrong! The cover must be impactful and jump off a bookshelf or computer screen. Creating just the right cover image is an art form, which involves evaluating the book’s content and understanding exactly what will resonate with the target market. Creating a perfect cover design is not formulaic and usually involves trial and error. But when an ideal cover image is achieved, it’s pretty obvious.
Below are a few Mascot-created engaging cover images.
Page layout involves guiding a reader’s attention on a page to emphasize a particular meaning or order of importance. A skilled graphic designer is able to use certain techniques to subtly direct readers to process content in a particular manner as intended by a book’s editorial team.
Below are a few examples of Mascot-created dynamic page layouts that greatly enhance a book’s overall presentation.
Mascot has published beautifully illustrated children’s books since 2003. During that time, we’ve worked with supremely talented artists with varying styles (utilizing both traditional and digital media). In order to become a Mascot Illustrator, an artist must be highly talented, strive to meet each author’s creative vision, and perform his or her duties in a timely and professional manner. In other words, we only work with the best. Below are just a few examples of the artwork quality that appear in our children’s books.
